Cookham Dean Primary School – Caring for Our Planet, Together

Welcome to the Eco Warriors page at Cookham Dean Primary School! We are a team of enthusiastic, eco-conscious students who are working hard to make our school a cleaner, greener and more sustainable place for everyone.

And guess what? We’re proudly working towards the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award — an internationally recognised symbol of excellence in environmental education and action!

💚 Who Are the Eco Warriors?

Our Eco Warriors are a dedicated group of children from Years 1 to 6 who have been chosen for their passion for the planet and their positive attitude. We meet regularly to plan environmental projects, raise awareness, and take action to help our school and community protect the world around us.

🌱 What Do We Do?

At Cookham Dean, our Eco Warriors lead by example. Here's what we’re busy doing all year round:

• ♻️ Recycling Patrol – Collecting and sorting recyclables from classrooms every week.
• 💡 Switch-Off Squad – Making sure lights and devices are turned off when not in use to save energy.
•  🧼 Litter Busters – Keeping our playground and school grounds clean and litter-free.
• 🌸 Gardening Club – Growing fruit, vegetables, and flowers to support wildlife and healthy eating.
• 📢 Eco Assemblies – Sharing tips and news about sustainability with the whole school.
• 🏅 Eco Challenges – Taking part in national events like Walk to School Week, The Big Plastic Count, and more
• 💷 Raising money for environmental charities including Wildlife Aid and the Marine Conservation Society 🦉🐬

We’re tracking our progress carefully as part of our Green Flag journey — involving the whole school in taking meaningful steps towards a more sustainable future.

🎤 Our Eco Code

Written and performed by Year 6 pupils Hadley, Alice and Tabitha, our Eco Code is a fun and powerful reminder of what we stand for:

We’ve got to save this planet with our eco rap

If there’s a better way to travel, it’s walking you’ll find

🌎 Why It Matters

At Cookham Dean Primary, we believe that small changes can lead to big differences. By working together, we can protect our environment and inspire others to do the same. Our Eco Warriors help the whole school make eco-friendly choices — and have lots of fun doing it!

Working towards the Eco-Schools Green Flag motivates us to aim higher, think smarter, and work as a team to build a better world — starting right here at school.
