Emotional Health and Wellbeing Ambassadors

Emotional Health and Wellbeing Ambassadors

The Cookham Dean Ambassadors are pupils who help promote kindness, inclusion and positive mental health across our school. They are trained to be good listeners and friendly faces for other children who may need someone to talk to or play with. The ambassadors help to encourage a supportive environment where everyone feels safe, valued and able to share their feelings. They understand the importance of looking after both our mental and physical wellbeing and help remind others that it’s okay to ask for help.

As part of their role, Emotional Wellbeing Ambassadors help lead activities that promote wellbeing, such as supporting awareness events like Children’s Mental Health Week, sharing positive messages around school and helping younger pupils feel included at playtimes. They also work closely with staff to share ideas about how we can make our school an even happier and more supportive place for everyone. While they are not responsible for solving problems themselves, they know how to encourage pupils to speak to a trusted adult when extra support is needed.

Friendship Ambassadors

Our Year 2 Friendship Ambassadors help to look after the Buddy Bench during playtimes. The Buddy Bench is a special place in the playground where children can sit if they are feeling lonely, need someone to play with, or would like a friend to talk to. The Friendship Ambassadors keep an eye on the bench and kindly invite anyone sitting there to join in with games or activities so that no one feels left out. In their role, they support the school’s Emotional Wellbeing Ambassadors by helping to promote kindness, inclusion and friendship across the playground.

All our ambassadors are easily identified by the bright coloured tabards they wear on the playground.
